A truly delicious liqueur, with a beautiful dark red colour and intense plummy flavour.
Stab the damsons several times with a skewer, then pack into a jar. Pour in as much sugar as you can get into the jar. Now pour in as much vodka as you can get in. Shake the jar a few times and top up with vodka as necessary.
Store the jar out of the light, somewhere where you will notice it from time to time (the cupboard I keep my coffee in works for me), and shake it now and then. Top up with vodka if the level drops.
The damsons need to be left (apart from the occasional shaking) for at least three months. Strain, and bottle.
