salt and pepper
nutmeg
butter (or clotted cream!)
You will need a pan that
can go on the hob and in the oven. Peel and slice the potatoes. Season
between layers of potato and mix in crushed garlic as you go.
Pour on milk until just covered.
Heat on the hob until the milk is just simmering. Grate a little nutmeg
over the top and then dot with pieces of butter or small dollops of
cream.
Cook in the oven at 160-1820
until the top is browned and the potatoes cooked.
